Free Harmonic Chart Calculator (5th Harmonic)

This tool multiplies every planet in your chart by a whole number and re-plots the result as a fresh 360° wheel. It surfaces aspect patterns hidden in your natal chart — connections that were loose or approximate suddenly snap into exact alignment. How it works ↓

A harmonic chart multiplies every planet's zodiac position by a whole number, then re-plots the result as a new chart. The 5th harmonic — associated with creativity, talent, and skilled craft — is the classic starting point for harmonic work; enter your birth details to generate it.

A harmonic is a multiplication, not a midpoint

This tool takes every planet's zodiac longitude and multiplies it by a whole number, then plots the results as a brand-new 360° chart. A planet at 10 degrees in your natal chart lands at 50 degrees in the 5th harmonic (10 x 5), then wraps around the zodiac as many times as the math requires.

This is a different operation from the other three tools in this family, which all average pairs of planets to find midpoints. Harmonics multiply a single position; midpoints split the distance between two. Different math, different question.

Why the 5th harmonic is the default

The 5th harmonic is the classic starting point for harmonic work, a technique systematized by the astrologer John Addey. It's traditionally associated with creativity, talent, and skilled craft — a lens for looking at natural aptitude rather than events or timing.

Other harmonics (7th, 9th, and beyond) surface different themes, but 5 is where most people start because it has the longest track record of interpretation to draw on.

What "exact" means here

Aspects in your natal chart are rarely perfect — a square might be 3 or 4 degrees off exact. The harmonic chart re-plots those same planets under multiplication, and some of those loose aspects become exact conjunctions in the harmonic wheel. That exactness is the entire point: it's a pattern your natal chart doesn't show directly, only implies.

Not every harmonic will produce a clean result for every chart. A busy 5th harmonic wheel is itself informative; a sparse one just means this particular multiplication didn't concentrate anything for you.

How this differs from the midpoint tools

If you're looking for midpoints, hits, or the 90-degree dial, you're in the wrong place — those are midpoint-calculator, 90-degree-dial, and cosmobiology-chart, and they all share one underlying calculation (averaging two planets, not multiplying one). This tool is the odd one out in the family: it's about multiplying single positions, not combining pairs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I run a harmonic other than the 5th?

The 5th is the default and the most commonly interpreted, but the same multiplication works for any whole number — the 7th and 9th harmonics are the next most explored in harmonic astrology.

Is a harmonic chart the same as a midpoint chart?

No. A harmonic multiplies one planet's position by a whole number. A midpoint chart (see midpoint-calculator, 90-degree-dial, or cosmobiology-chart) averages two planets together. They use different math and answer different questions.
