Carl Jung
Psychiatrist, founder of analytical psychology; archetypes, the collective unconscious
"Analytical psychology shaped by intense fixed focus and symbolic inquiry"

The life of Carl Jung
Who was Carl Jung?
Carl Jung founded analytical psychology, introducing the collective unconscious, archetypes and psychological types to a field then dominated by Freud. He worked at the Burghölzli hospital in Zurich from 1900 and collaborated with Freud from 1907 until their break around 1913. The rupture sent him into years of self-experiment, recorded in The Red Book and published only in 2009. He died at his home in Küsnacht in June 1961.
