Gene Keys Spheres
A Gene Keys chart is called a Hologenetic Profile, and it is calculated from birth date, time and place, the same data an astrological chart uses. It plots eleven spheres rather than twelve houses, arranged in three sequences. The Activation Sequence holds Life's Work, Evolution, Radiance and Purpose. The Venus Sequence holds Attraction, IQ, EQ and SQ. The Pearl Sequence holds Vocation, Culture and the Pearl. Every sphere draws its key from a specific planetary position. Life's Work comes from the Sun and Purpose from the Earth. Attraction and EQ come from Venus, IQ and SQ from Mercury, Vocation and Culture from Mars, and the Pearl from Jupiter. Roughly half the spheres are calculated from the moment of birth and half from a point about three months earlier, the same conscious and unconscious split Human Design uses.
Life's Work
Computed from your conscious Sun, Life's Work is the core identity sphere of the entire profile — the Gene Key describing what you're here to actually do and become known for. It's the sphere most people start contemplating first, since it colors the baseline flavor of everything else in the profile.
Evolution
Computed from your conscious Earth, Evolution names the growing edge you're here to work through — the specific challenge or friction pattern whose repeated confrontation is how you actually mature over a lifetime.
Radiance
Computed from your unconscious (Design) Sun, Radiance describes the vitality and physical health pattern running beneath conscious awareness — the energetic signature other people tend to notice in you well before you notice it in yourself.
Purpose
Computed from your unconscious (Design) Earth, Purpose names the background sense of meaning that grounds Life's Work — a felt orientation that operates more as instinct than as a conscious goal.
Attraction
Computed from your conscious Venus, Attraction describes the core relational pattern that draws people and circumstances toward you — the emotional signature at the center of your Venus Sequence, the profile's relationship layer.
IQ
Computed from your conscious Mercury, IQ maps your natural communication and intellectual processing style — how you take in, organize, and express ideas within relationships and everyday exchange.
EQ
Computed from your unconscious (Design) Venus, EQ names the emotional conditioning beneath Attraction — early relational patterning and defenses that shape how safe intimacy actually feels to you, often outside conscious awareness.
SQ
Computed from your unconscious (Design) Mercury, SQ describes your somatic and social intelligence — an instinctive, body-level read on situations and people that runs underneath deliberate thought.
Vocation
Computed from your conscious Mars, Vocation names the working style and drive at the center of your Pearl Sequence, the profile's prosperity layer — how you actually apply effort and momentum toward material outcomes.
Culture
Computed from your unconscious (Design) Mars, Culture describes the environment and community context your prosperity actually needs to take root — the surrounding conditions that let Vocation's drive turn into something sustained.
Pearl
Computed from your conscious Jupiter, Pearl is the culminating sphere of the whole profile — the point where Life's Work, Vocation, and Culture crystallize into lasting material and creative abundance, treated as the long-arc destination rather than an early milestone.
